Toothless

Back almost 3 years ago I saw someone make a cool clay model at YouTube.
It looked like quite a nice way to decorate your rooms with custom figurines that means a bit more than a generic nice-looking object. So I decided that I should give it a try. Naturally, I wanted to start out by creating one of my favorite creatures, Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon.

I was quite happy with the result. At least concidering this was the first time I ever did sculpting with clay.

In order to make a model, I need to have some idea of how the clay should be shaped to give the final look I want on the pose.
I use images I find on Google for this. Sometimes it can be hard to determine depth, and in those cases I use a variety of images that show the part I want to see.

This was the main picture I used to shape this particular sculpture.
Was a bit hard to tell from the waterstamp, but it seems to be made by Jennette Brown.
So thanks for a awsome reference pose!
